<sigh> If it's not one thing, it's another. Or, in this case . . . . 10 anothers. "Gee, why won't this thing idle . . . . better pull the valve covers and get a looksee." Exhaust valves 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8 all look like they're got broken springs. Intake valve springs 3, 5, 6 all look like they're busted as well. Great.
So here I am with 10 busted valve springs. Not a problem, that's why I carry spares now. Perfect time to swap plugs, check pushrods, and take care of odds and ends. Afternoon job, right? Yeah . . . not so much. Turns out that #1 exhast is leaking. Not just "slow leak" leaking . . . . won't hold 1psi leaking. To boot, #2 and #3 valve keeps won't come unstuck. How fun -- heads are coming off, pics with damage as soon as they're off. Anyone know of any cheap LS7s? |
